The horrible disappointment
Finally, the “Hawk” has taken flight… right into a power line.
This is Palm’s mysterious third business line? This is what Palm and Treo inventor Jeff Hawkins called the most exciting product he’s ever worked on?
In case you haven’t seen it yet, the Palm Foleo is a laptop without a brain. It’s a clamshell [...]
In preparation for Script Frenzy I’m rereading Wordplay, Terry Rossio’s excellent collection of columns on screenwriting. In case you don’t realize that you’re familiar with Rossio’s work, he and partner Ted Elliot have written some major Hollywood blockbusters, including current box office king “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”. I read many of these [...]
We interrupt writing on the current novel to attempt the stupid. Again.
Script Frenzy is an international writing event in which participants attempt the creatively daring feat of writing an original, full-length screenplay—or stage play—in a single month. Spurred by a wild deadline and buoyed by a community of countless other writers, Script Frenzy participants can’t [...]
As many of you know, I’ve recently upgraded my PC to Vista Ultimate. In the process, I’ve also upgraded to Office 2007 Ultimate, as well as replacing XP’s ActiveSync with Vista’s Windows Mobile Device Center. As we sat around discussing In Shining Armor Chapter One, I brought up many of the topics that I’ve been blogging about here for the past week. Okay, I brought [...]
I posted Chapter One earlier today before getting the feedback from my critique group, and let’s just say they had some issues with it. Mostly, they didn’t think my change of point of view (or really, the supposed lack of it) worked. In the first draft, when I switch from Mike and Chris in the [...]
One of the things I’m doing with In Shining Armor that has me both worried and excited is how I’m handling the narration (warning to casual readers: I’m about to go “Inside Baseball” writer geeky here). The point of view in this story is a little tricky.
Here’s the thing. For those of you that have [...]
Just for reference, if you’re curious about the overall shape of the story. A lot has changed in the novel version (including Mike’s powers) but this might give you a basic idea of where I’m going. A couple of things to consider.
This was written in 1998, and most of the plot is older than that. [...]
