Five grand, baby!

Day one of NaNoWriMo is off to a rollicking start: 5,045 words right out of the gate. This is by far the most I’ve ever written in a single day, and you know what?

It was easy.

I just let myself go, I have my internal editor not only gagged, but bound, tossed in the basement where he cringes as two heavy guys named Tony kick him from time to time. The story is just flowing out of me and I’ve been surprised several times already by elements I totally didn’t plan for or even see coming. Josh reports largely the same experience (although a wordcount pitifully 1,100 words short of mine), as his first day of writing uncovered a major point of view character he didn’t even know existed.

I understand this sort of thing is common in week one of NaNoWriMo, before the horrible doldrums of the dreaded week two…

My final word count was about 600 words short of you and lest we all forget, I have a wife and daughter, most of my writing was done by 3pm my time.
